Books We Recommend
The New Rules for Love, Sex & Dating
By Andy Stanley / Zondervan
We have not read this book yet, but if it is anywhere near as good as the video series, it is a must read!
I Kissed Dating Goodbye, A New Attitude Toward Romance and Relationships
By Joshua Harris / Multnomah Books
Although I do not agree with some of his conclusions, a lot of his premises are worth thinking about. It is time to stop repeating old patterns of dating that so many times just don’t work. The way we dated as older teens and early twenty-somethings is especially inappropriate for us as thirty, forty, or fifty-somethings. Between this book and Boundaries in Dating I found a good and balanced approach to dating.
Boundaries in Dating
By Drs. Henry Cloud & John Townsend / Zondervan
I loved this book. It completely transformed my view of dating.
How to Get a Date Worth Keeping – Abridged Audiobook [Download]
By Henry Cloud / Zondervan
What can I say, I love Henry Clouds thoughts on dating.
Love Smart: Find the One You Want – Fix the One You Got
By Dr. Phil McGraw / Free Press
This is the book that Anita credits with changing her life as a single adult. The concepts presented here are very similar to what I read in Boundaries in Dating.
Single and Loving It: Living Life to the Fullest
By Kate McVeigh / Harrison House
This is another book that Anita credits with transforming her attitude towards being single.
Date or Soul Mate?
By Neil Clark Warren / Thomas Nelson
Yes, this is the eHarmony guy. Yes, it is a good book to read before you attempt dating.
Finding the Right One After Divorce: Avoiding the 13 Common Mistakes People Make in Remarriage – eBook
By Edward M. Tauber & Jim Smoke / Harvest House Publishers
Don’t become a statistic. Learn from other people’s mistakes.
The Dating Manifesto: A Drama-Free Plan for Pursuing Marriage with Purpose
By Lisa Anderson / David C. Cook
I have not read this book yet, but I have seen and heard the author on various videos and podcasts including Focus on the Family and was impressed enough to include her book here. I will report on it in greater detail when I get the chance o read it.
